HousingLink Jax

Funded by the City of Jacksonville and administered by the Jacksonville Housing Authority and Ability Housing of Northeast Florida, HousingLink Jax is a unique homeless prevention strategy being implemented in Jacksonville, Florida.

HousingLink Jax is a Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program designed to prevent homelessness.  It is targeted to households encountering situational challenges that put them at risk of homelessness.  Such challenges can include illness, loss of employment, reduction in work hours, unexpected car repairs, etc.

The objective of the program is to assist households that require time-limited assistance.  Each household should have a realistic expectation of being self-sufficient once the assistance ends.

Program Summary

HousingLink Jax will provide one-year of rental assistance to Duval County households with incomes of less than 80% of the Area Median Income.   Participants will be required to pay 30% of their income toward rent and utilities.

Since the rental assistance is time-limited, participants will be required to attend financial counseling sessions in order to develop a self-sufficiency plan.  This will facilitate the participants' ability to pay their rent without assistance after the year is concluded.
